    Ruben De Groote

Ruben De Groote’s specific interests are uro-oncology and robotic surgery, which he pursues as part of the multi-subspecialty urological team at Onze Lieve Vrouw Hospital in Aalst, Belgium. Here, the urologists stimulate residents, fellows and themselves to be actively involved in clinical research and to investigate the role of new training modalities.
De Groote and the OLV Urology team are continuously innovating to improve operative performance and daily workflow. Examples include pioneering work in robotic surgery, and the implementation of AI in data mining.

As an international proctor in robotic surgery, De Groote trains other robotic surgeons. He is author and co-author of several papers in international high-impact scientific journals and is one of the driving forces in the ORSI Academy, the world’s largest robotic training facility. Here he is involved in implementing a new methodology to train surgeons in order to lower operative complications.

At and& Leuven, learn how incorporating surgical simulation in an out-of-hospital setting can lead to proficiency-based progression training in a way that could renew the world of surgical training.
