Rob van der Meij

Described by an ex-colleague as “a creative insightful leader with extraordinary business skills,” Rob van der Meij is a chemical engineer from Delft University in the Netherlands. He has worked both in the corporate, strategy consulting and start-up world in chemicals, process and water technology.

He has held business management positions with Akzo Nobel and Shell Chemicals, was a founder and CEO of KiOR in the US, and worked as CEO for several other start-ups in chemicals and water technology.

van der Meij is also an investor and has board roles in several start-ups. He has also completed the New Board Programme from Neyenrode Business University, developing board members’ ‘new style’. He is a member of the Capricorn Sustainable Chemistry Fund team and holds board roles in several of the portfolio companies.
