Roald Parmentier

Roald Parmentier is the founder of The Bårn, a Leuven-based student startup accelerator. Ever since he was young, he had a great interest in business and technology. Following his presidency at student organization Academics for Technology, he’s on a mission to make the Leuven startup ecosystem a source of national pride.

Parmentier started his studies of Industrial Engineering at GroupT in 2016. Via internships and as an organizer of the Student Startup Trip, a business trip for students to Singapore, he became involved in the national startup network. Currently he supports founders and business angels in the search for “the next big thing”.

According to Parmentier, the next big thing(s) will likely come from the blockchain world and the food industry, specifically the search for alternative protein. Discover more at and& Leuven.
