Jean Gil Barocca

Jean Barroca is Deloitte's Global Digital Transformation Leader and the Senior Manager in the firm's Global Smart Cities team. In Portugal, he is General Manager of City Synergy, the key asset in the Smart City offering of Deloitte. At Deloitte he has been working with leading cities in Europe to support Smart City and Future of Mobility initiatives.

Before joining Deloitte, he worked with the World Bank in the Latin America & Caribbean and Africa regions in open innovation issues such as the co-design and development of ICT4D tools that empower citizens to tackle city problems. He also worked in the co-creation of open innovation strategies for cities and countries by applying design thinking methodologies. As a UNICEF consultant, he developed the Innovation Framework for UNICEF in the Latin America and Caribbean Region.

Barroca has also been involved in several projects funded by the European Commission, working on topics such as Smart Cities, Open Data, Living Labs, and Mobility, developing Open Innovation platforms and applying design thinking tools for the co-creation of services and business models. His last project focused on citizen behavior change for sustainable mobility through gamification.
