    Bart De Moor

Bart De Moor is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at KU Leuven, Belgium. He teaches numerical linear algebra, dynamical systems theory and modelling, advanced control theory, data mining and bioinformatics. He has co-published more than 400 scientific papers and contributed to ten books.

De Moor is the coordinator of numerous research projects, financed by regional, Belgian and European funding agencies, many of them with colleagues from other disciplines. These include micro-climate simulations, river basin control, industrial process control, bioinformatics, genomics, proteomics, oncology, gynaecology, and intensive care. His latest research is a quest for the best mathematical model, so that the results generated by that model will be reproducible time and again.

He is one of the architects of the Flanders AI Program and chairman of the Flanders AI Academy. He is co-founder of several start-up companies, some of which realised a succesful exit, with others still active as IPCOS (industrial process control), TML (traffic modelling and consulting), Ugentec (software for PCR analysis (including COVID-testing)), Aspect Analytics (AI for mass spectrometry imaging), Lindacare (monitoring implantable cardiac devices), Timeseeer.ai (industrial process monitoring). He is also the chairman of the Capricorn Digital Growth Fund (venture capital).
